I don’t glow. I sweat. Like a pig. And I don’t mean I sweat just when I work out. I sweat walking to from the car to the store. I sweat teaching indoors in full arctic blast A/C. I sweat running errands.
Heck, I sweat while eating ice cream.
Sweating has really taken its toll on my fashion. I have horribly overactive sweat glands in my underarms…like my underarm sweat causes giant, embarrassing pit stains. So. Not. Cute.
I stopped wearing bright colors. I stopped wearing close fitting shirts. I packed tissues in my purse to keep my underarms dry. I switched the brands of deodorants. I applied at different times of the day. I applied multiple times a day. It got so bad, I even went to visit my doctor. Nothing worked.
You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to be a teacher, heck, a pretty spicy Latina, and not make grand sweeping arm movements when you talk. I kept my arms down not to bring attention to my pit stains. I tried to avoid movements that involved lifting my arms above 30 degrees. I crossed my arms to hide the stains.
Talk about having to sweat the small stuff. Who would’ve thought something like a little sweat could make such an impact on your day life?
Then…the heavens opened up <cue choir>…and out came Dove Clinical Strength Antipersperant. REJOICE!
And you know what? They’re at it again. Dove developed another fashion faux pas silver bullet…Dove Clear Tone. Dove Clear Tone gradually erases the dark marks caused by irritation from shaving. Break out those tank tops, Chicas!
Now that sweat stains are a thing of the past for me, the only fashion stains I fear are typically accidental and caused by me or my kiddos.
What mom hasn’t walked around with a coffee stain, sticky hand print, or, my personal favorite, toddler-sized footprint on their shirt?
Dump the Mami Frump
I’m not always dressed to the 9s but I do my best to look well put together. I find that looking good helps me feel good. It keeps my energy and confidence up during the day. That, and a GIANT cup of coffee. You don’t want to see me without the coffee. Trust.
I bet all of you keep a change of clothing in the car for your kiddos, but how about you? Keeping a change of clothing in the car for you is a great way to stop a case of accidental mama frump in its tracks!
